2010 Lenten Bible Study: "Bringing People to Jesus."

This year the theme of our Lenten Bible Studywill be "Bringing People to Jesus." The purpose of the study is to urgeall members to think of our responsibility today to "bring people toJesus." Our Lenten journey begins on Wednesday, February 17, withour Lenten service in the sanctuary at 7:00 PM The next five weekswe will meet in the social room for our Lenten Bible Study. To preparefor each Wednesday evening, I ask that you read the assigned Biblereadings listed at the end of this article. Please plan to attend theseLenten gatherings as we prepare ourselves for the Passion of ourLord!

Wednesday, February 17:

Ash Wednesday Service in the sanctuaryat 7:00 PM. We will celebrate Holy Communion and the Imposition ofAshes

Wednesday, February 24:

John 1:35-42

This text is the ultimate example of how we do evangelism. Andrew, after hearing Jesus, could not wait to tell his brother Peter. As youstudy this text consider times in your life when you have told othersabout your church.

Wednesday, March 3:

Mark 2:1-12

From the outset of Jesus' ministry, the news spread about the manfrom Galilee who had powers to heal and to comfort. Mark tells usthat early in Jesus' ministry a paralyzed man was brought to Jesuswith many surprises! As you read consider how important our friendsare to us in terms of bringing us to Jesus.

Wednesday, March 10:

Matthew 19:13-15

For some reason, Jesus' disciples did not think it was a good idea forchildren to come to Jesus. How do you understand our responsibilitywhen it comes to bringing children to Jesus?

Wednesday, March 17:

 John 8:1-11

What in the world do we do with the sinner in the church? It is aquestion that we all must ponder this evening.

Wednesday, March 24:

Mark 7: 31-37

Is our church handicapped accessible when it comes to ministering tothose different than we are?

As we have done in the past, we will gather each Wednesdayevening at 6:00 for a meal of soup that the church provides and desserts to share that you will provide. (BYO sandwich, if you desire).

Millie will be making her delicious soups:

February 24: Vegetable beef

March 3: Chicken noodle

March 10: Potato soup

March 17: Beef barley

March 24: Seafood chowder

Following the meal we will share in Bible study together.
